The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official notification announcing the re-conduct of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for English, Commerce, and Sociology. The decision comes after an expert review committee investigated candidate grievances regarding severe question paper anomalies.

Why Did NTA Order a Re-Exam?

The expert committee identified critical discrepancies across the three subject papers, ruling that the defects could not be resolved simply by dropping challenged questions:

• Factual & Translation Errors: Flawed Hindi translations and non-standard terminology for established concepts.
• Typographical Flaws: Misspelled names of prominent scholars and garbled book titles.
• Question Repetition: A substantial number of questions were repeated verbatim from previous exams.

Important Rules & Guidelines for Candidates

• Zero Additional Fee: Affected candidates are not required to pay any additional examination fee for appearing in the re-test.
• Admit Card & City Intimation: Specific exam centres, city slips, and revised admit cards will be issued separately on the official NTA portal.
• No Delay for Other 84 Subjects: Result processing, JRF seat allocations, and eligibility certificates for the remaining 84 subjects will continue strictly as scheduled.
• Qualifying Criterion: The eligibility quota for Assistant Professor will be calculated as 6% of the candidates who appeared in June 2026 or the re-test, whichever is higher.
